Iceland. It’s a land of sheep, the northern lighting, volcanoes with unpronounceable titles (try saying Eyjafjallaj? kull), majestic waterfalls, craggy foothills, and otherworldly landscapes. To me, it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Just how can such a very small island have such a diverse and beautiful landscape? It changes every few feet — from verdant fields, snowy mountains, and brilliant glaciers to similarity to Mars. It never ceases to amaze me. I had fashioned high expectations when I actually first visited. I’d seen movies pictures in mags of a land with jagged mountain peaks, volcanoes with desolate lava domains, rolling hills with grazing sheep, and glaciers that stretched for miles.

This hip capital is awash in flourishing cafes, high-energy clubs, friendly pubs, and a vibrant colored old town with lines of wooden houses clustered along. It’s more like a giant small town than a city. Though really super small, it’s worthy of a few extra days and nights to really get an awareness of00 the art and caf? culture of the city. Of course, if most likely a night owl, you will love the party life (Icelanders know how to drink). I love this city and never find myself bored here. Via reading in caf? h to wandering the sea-coast to
enjoying drinks with my local freinds, Reykjav? k pulls me in during at any time visit.

Visit the Westfjords

The Westfjords is a huge peninsula in northwestern Iceland with tons mountains and a coastline heavily indented by fjords. It’s one of the most organic parts of Iceland and the best region. Few people live here and fewer visit, though Icelanders make their way here on summer vacation. It’s an area of tiny villages, fishing villages, mountains, waterfalls, and lakes. In the summer months, puffins and whales call it their home. During winter, many of the roads are sealed by ice and snow for several months. Nevertheless you will discover tiny towns, profound fjords, and beautiful walks all to yourself. Really quite difficult to get around but locals will let you hitch rides with them easily because shuttle bus service here can essentially be non-existent. Be sure to eat at Ustvari? ruh? si? in? safj? r? ur for an all you can eat, catch one today self serve buffet. Delicious!

The Golden Ring

Iceland’s most famous design, Gullfoss
The Golden Ring is the popular holiday route that includes Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir, and Thingvellir National Park. They make a simple day trip from the capital or international airport, so people on a short layover always visit this area. You can certainly drive the whole engagement ring in a day. Along the way, there are a few farms where you can stop and see Icelandic horses. The main sites are:

View the Northern Lamps

From September to 04, the Northern Lights become more noticeable here. These kinds of dancing lights are one of the biggest natural wonders in the world. To witness the aurora borealis in all their glory in Iceland requires patience, luck, and darkness. The country villages in the north are the most effective location to see the lights, especially during periods of “low” activity. If the signals actually are strong, you can sometimes see them in Rekjyavik.Located in the southeast of Iceland, this ice floe is merely a couple of decades old and now one of the extremely popular destinations in the spot country. Brei? amerkurj? kull Glacier retreated very quickly from 1920 to 1965, leaving this breathtaking lagoon behind, which is up to one hundred ninety meters deep. Icebergs drift in the lagoon all year. I like just sitting down and hearing the glaciers blocks crash into one another on their way out to sea. You can also take boat journeys around the lagoon.

Execute a Glacial Trek

During the cold months, the glaciers get a little sturdier, and teams of tourists are led across them. There’s no better way to find the glaciers than to walk on them, liberating your inner Arctic browser. Vatnaj? kull is one of the most popular glaciers to hike, though there are others throughout the country, as well. Several tour companies offering distante expeditions are Extreme Iceland, Icelandic Mountain Guides, Journey Iceland.

My love for Iceland became an infatuation as I’ve drawn backside by the people and the raw natural beauty of the terrain. Avoid let the high prices scare you away from Iceland. There’s plenty of ways to save money while you’re there. Get inspired, take benefit of the cheap flights, head north away from the crowds of people, and sit in a hot springs while observing the northern lights!
